Boston Scientific maintains momentum in Q3 2013

25th October 2013

Boston Scientific has published its financial results for the third quarter of 2013, reporting a third-quarter sales total of $1.74 billion (1.07 billion pounds).

This represented a year-on-year operational increase of four percent, while its adjusted earnings per share came to $0.17, exceeding the high end of the company's previously-stated guidance range.

Boston Scientific experienced continued above-market growth for its MedSurg division and improved performance for its cardiac rhythm management and interventional cardiology businesses, while its peripheral interventions unit also had a solid quarter.

Additionally, the firm was able to expand its global reach to emerging markets and approved a restructuring programme that will deliver significant savings in future.

Mike Mahoney, Boston Scientific president and chief executive officer, said: "We are pleased with our strong overall results and the momentum we are building globally in a dynamic healthcare environment."

This comes after the company recently agreed a deal to acquire the electrophysiology division of Bard in a deal worth $275 million.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801653695-ADNFCR
