GE Healthcare earns accolade for Somo-V Insight ultrasound system
GE Healthcare has announced that its Somo-V Insight automated breast ultrasound system has been recognised as a category leader in the 2013 Best in KLAS Awards: Medical Equipment and Infrastructure Report.
Compiled by research firm KLAS, the report ranks more than 180 products from a variety of imaging, pharmacy automation and infrastructure vendors, drawing upon the views of healthcare executives, managers and clinicians from more than 4,500 hospitals and 2,500 clinics.
The Somo-V Insight system was awarded the highest ranking in the women's imaging (specialty) category, thanks to its sensitivity and ability to enhance cancer detection rates, particularly when used among patients with dense breasts.
Anders Wold, president and chief executive officer of GE Ultrasound, said: "Our commitment to ABUS technology and making it available to more healthcare providers and patients around the world is a reflection of the company's efforts in tackling breast cancer."
According to a GE Healthcare report earlier this month, 15 million years of healthy life were lost worldwide in 2008 due to women dying early or being ill with breast cancer.
