Horiba’s Microsemi CRP analyser receives Synergy Health endorsement
Horiba has announced that its Microsemi CRP (C-reactive protein) analyser has been evaluated positively by Synergy Health Laboratory Services.
The study assessed the system's point-of-care (POC) full blood count capabilities, finding that the analyser demonstrated excellent correlation with routine laboratory methodologies, as well as being easy to use.
CRP is secreted by the liver in response to a variety of inflammatory cytokines and is often used in the diagnosis and monitoring of various acute inflammatory processes.
It requires just 18 microlitres of whole blood for the simultaneous measurement of full blood counts – including three-part differential – and CRP within four minutes, with the fact that the three-level whole blood control integrates CRP negating the need for two separate controls.
Synergy scientists also confirmed the Microsemi CRP's suitability for use in primary and secondary care, as well as paediatric settings.
Horiba gave a presentation of the findings of the Synergy study at the 2013 congress of the Institute of Biomedical Science, which took place in Birmingham last month.
