Actavis wins innovation prize at Pharmacy Business Awards

Actavis has been presented with an innovation prize at the 2013 Pharmacy Business Awards, which took place for the 13th time at the Park Plaza Hotel in London on October 23rd.

The company won the innovation in generics award – a prize it has collected before – in recognition of its expanding portfolio of off-label therapies, which now includes 740 products after the recent launch of Lynlor.

Actavis' contribution to providing training and resources for pharmacy staff was also acknowledged at the event, which is one of the largest of its kind in the industry, with more than 1,000 attendees each year.

Michael Cann, director for generics at Actavis, said: "We are extremely proud to collect this award, which recognises our organisation's continued innovation, as well as our commitment to providing a first-class service to UK pharmacists."

This comes after the company greatly expanded its global reach and operational capabilities last month with the completion of its multi-billion-dollar takeover of fellow healthcare company Warner Chilcott.
