Janssen reports positive Incivo data at AASLD and ISPOR 2013

Janssen has shared clinical data for the hepatitis C therapy Incivo at the latest American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) meetings.

The company attended the events in order to share data demonstrating the benefits its therapy can offer when used in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin, noting that earlier treatment can improve patient outcomes.

Results from a French study have also shown that significant economic benefits have been associated with the use of its cost-effective treatment regimen.

To date, more than 110,000 patients have been treated with an Incivo-based regimen globally, with triple therapy including a protease inhibitor remaining the standard of care for patients with genotype-1 chronic hepatitis C.

Last week, Janssen announced that it has filed for European regulatory approval of its new compound ibrutinib, for the treatment of adult patients with two forms of blood cancer.
