Siemens Healthcare unveils Somatom Force CT imaging technology
Siemens Healthcare has introduced a next-generation dual source computed tomography (CT) system that enables faster imaging and more precise diagnoses than ever.
Somatom Force has been unveiled at this week's annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America and enables users to achieve unparalleled dose reductions for a wider variety of patients than ever.
Thanks to its beneficial design elements, it can be used among patients who are very young, suffering from renal insufficiency, seriously ill or obese. It boasts the industry's fastest acquisition rate of 737 mm per second and is particularly suitable for early detection examinations.
Walter Marzendorfer, chief executive officer of computed tomography and radiation oncology at Siemens Healthcare, said: "Somatom Force negates many aspects of CT that until now have limited its application. For example the administration of contrast medium that proves problematic for many patients can be greatly lowered."
This comes after Siemens announced a renewed technology alliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific in September 2013, allowing Thermo Fisher's BRAHMS PCT assay to continue to be available on the Siemens ADVIA Centaur system.
