Sogeval launches Efex oral antibiotic tablets

12th December 2013

Sogeval has announced the UK introduction of a new multipurpose antibiotic product called Efex for dogs and cats.

The tablet contains a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic marbofloxacin for oral administration, which is readily absorbed to reach maximal plasma concentrations within two hours.

It exhibits a wide range of activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including Pseudomonas spp and Mycoplasma spp. Each tablet breaks easily and accurately into halves for cats and halves and quarters for dogs, facilitating accurate dosing for a wide range of patients.

Efex was launched at the London Vet Show last month, with animal health professionals attending the event being asked whether the tablets suited their patients' needs.

A statement from the company said: "Efex tablets are chewable and, in a palatability study, seven out of ten cats readily consumed them."

The firm officially changed its name from Alstoe to Sogeval UK last month, following its takeover by the Sogeval group at the start of the year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801671941-ADNFCR
