Biotronik receives endorsement for BioMonitor from leading expert
Biotronik has announced that its BioMonitor monitoring device has been recommended by a leading cardiology expert.
Dr Dietrich Andresen, medical director of the department of cardiology and intensive care unit and the department of internal medicine and angiology at Klinikum am Urban in Berlin, has endorsed the device as a means of treating patients more effectively.
BioMonitor is a unique subcutaneous implantable leadless cardiac monitor that can be used in the long-term continuous remote monitoring of patients with arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia or sudden heart rate drop.
Dr Andresen said he has been able to used the system to keep track of the heart health of at-risk patients, allowing him to perform timely and lifesaving interventions.
He added: "When a patient is complaining about intermittent symptoms like heart palpitation, dizziness or fainting, it is extremely important that we be able to witness the arrhythmia causing these symptoms first-hand. Devices like BioMonitor can help."
This comes after the firm reported positive clinical results confirming the superior performance of its Pulsar-18 self-expanding stent system last month.
