B Braun kicks off celebrations of 175th anniversary

B Braun has announced that it will be celebrating the 175th anniversary of the company's foundation throughout 2014.

The motto '175 Years of Leading Innovation' will be used during the year to highlight the many contributions the firm has made to the development of medicine since its formation in Melsungen, Germany in 1839.

Customers and employees alike will be invited to reflect on B Braun's past accomplishments during its anniversary year, while new technologies and innovations will be released to reflect its future vision.

Professor Dr Heinz-Walter Grosse, chief executive officer of B Braun, said: "Under the motto 175 Years of Leading Innovation, we will showcase many examples throughout the year of what innovation means at B Braun."

The foundations of B Braun were laid when Julius Wilhelm Braun purchased the Rosenapotheke, a pharmacy in Melsungen, on June 23rd 1839. Since then, it has become a global organisation with subsidiaries in 61 countries and 50,000 employees worldwide.

It continues to expand the scope of its business, having formed a new subsidiary company in Canada last year.
