Molnlycke Health Care to expand US production site in Maine

17th January 2014

Molnlycke has announced plans to invest between $5.5 million and $7 million (3.34 to 4.26 million pounds) to expand its manufacturing capabilities in Wiscasset, Maine.

The new facility will house the company's Brennen mesher and porcine tissue manufacturing operations, which currently located in Minnesota. It comes as part of a wider programme of consolidation for the firm's US division.

This follows the opening of a new $47 million factory in Brunswick by Molnlycke in September 2013.

Mark Dignum, Molnlycke Health Care's site director in Brunswick and Wiscasset, said this "is the next step in developing our North American hub here in Maine, putting all of our production and converting at two main sites in close proximity of each other".

Molnlycke has been present in Maine since its acquisition of Wiscasset-based Rynel in 2010. Worldwide, it has over 7,400 members of staff across more than 30 countries.

The firm is currently preparing to welcome Richard Twomey from Align Technology as a new recruit on February 1st 2014, ahead of his appointment to the role of chief executive officer on April 1st.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801683525-ADNFCR
