Henry Schein supports launch of ACDA-UK
Henry Schein has announced its support of the launch of the new African and Caribbean Dental Association UK (ACDA-UK) through its Henry Schein Care corporate responsibility programme.
The first annual dinner of ACDA-UK was held at the Hilton London Tower Bridge Hotel at the end of 2013, with more than 150 delegates in attendance, including association directors Dr Julius Babayemi and Dr Olurotimi Adesanya.
ACDA-UK has been formed in response to the growing demand for better oral health awareness among minority groups in the UK, as well as the need for peer review and networking among dental care professionals of African and Caribbean descent.
The organisation aims to partner with statutory, professional and voluntary organisations to achieve these aims, while encouraging members to make use of their knowledge of culture and languages to promote better health awareness in ethnic communities.
Simon Gambold, managing director of Henry Schein's medical and dental business in the UK, said: "Supporting dental groups, helping to build leadership capacity and networking within healthcare is a key part of our global Henry Schein Cares programme."
This comes after the firm launched Helping Kids Smile, an oral health and education programme aimed at underserved populations of primary school students in Northern Ireland, towards the end of 2013.
