Gilead Sciences announces new executive promotions
Gilead Sciences has strengthened its senior management team with the announcement of a number of new executive promotions.
Robin Washington, the company's chief financial officer, has been promoted to executive vice-president (EVP), while Paul Carter and Dr John McHutchison also take on EVP roles with different responsibilities.
Mr Carter – formerly senior vice-president of international commercial operations – will take charge of Gilead's worldwide commercial organisation, while Dr McHutchison, previously the senior vice-president for liver disease therapeutics, will assume additional responsibility for clinical development programs in the areas of oncology, respiratory diseases and inflammation.
All three new EVPs have been with the company for several years and have achieved notable successes during their time with Gilead.
Dr John Martin, chairman and chief executive officer of Gilead Sciences, said: "Their leadership and vision will help ensure Gilead is able to achieve our goals and reach more patients in need around the world."
The company also recently confirmed that Kevin Young, its current EVP for commercial operations, will be departing the organisation next month.
