Waters reports strong growth for 2013
Waters has announced its financial results for the 2013 fourth quarter and full-year periods, during which it achieved growth despite economic challenges.
During the final three months of the year, the company generated sales of $565 million (345.67 million pounds), a year-on-year increase of eight percent. For the full year, revenues were up by three percent to $1.9 billion.
The company stated that the fourth quarter was a particularly strong period, with rising pharmaceutical sector demand accompanied by continued success in the global academic and industrial chemical end markets.
This helped to offset the negative impact that foreign currency translation – principally the weaker Japanese yen – had on the firm's bottom line throughout the year.
Douglas Berthiaume, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Waters, said: "The strength in the fourth quarter of 2013 was broad-based in terms of our key product lines and business segments."
As previously announced, Waters' chief financial officer John Ornell stepped down from his position on February 1st 2014 following the publication of these results, with Eugene Cassis taking over on an interim basis.
