Source BioScience opens new laboratory in Ireland

Source BioScience has announced the official launch of a new laboratory in Tramore, County Waterford, thereby expanding its DNA sequencing service capabilities in Ireland.

Strategically positioned between Cork and Dublin, the opening of the new lab provides an opportunity to expand the company's Overnight Shipment service to all areas of the country, allowing all Irish customers to access sequencing data within 24 hours.

It complements Source BioScience's existing controlled environment storage facility in Tramore and has been opened as part of the firm's long-term commitment to developing its Irish business.

The official inauguration was conducted by John Perry, Ireland's minister of state for small business, who cut the ceremonial ribbon alongside Blaise Hannigan, the mayor of Tramore.

Nick Ash, chief executive officer at Source BioScience, said: "The investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to Ireland. The country has a vibrant and growing life sciences and pharma-biotech industry, with some of the biggest names in the world located here."

The company is an international diagnostic and genetic analysis and stability storage business, headquartered in Nottingham. It also has UK facilities in Cambridge, Oxford, Rochdale and Bellshill and operates two sites in Ireland – Dublin and Tramore.
