VPMA and CAW ally to provide new leadership qualifications

The Veterinary Practice Management Association (VPMA) and the College of Animal Welfare (CAW) have joined forces to promote a pair of management qualifications.

Delivered by the new CAW Business School and awarded by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management is aimed at those working in or aspiring to a leadership position within vet practices, and is set at the equivalent of A level standard.

Animal health professionals can apply for this 12-month course, or alternatively opt for the 18-month Level 5 Diploma, which is delivered to foundation degree level.

Both courses have seen a mix of vets and nurses enrol to learn best practice as they take on more management responsibility. Additionally, the VPMA is offering students of both courses a year's free membership of the association.

VPMA president Helen Sanderson said: "I feel that this training is every bit as important as clinical CPD and should be actively encouraged if there is an interest there."

This comes after the VPMA recently launched a new logo and corporate website to ensure it can continue to provide a modern and responsive service to its members.
