Siemens Healthcare rolls out CareXcell IT solution

Siemens Healthcare has announced the launch of CareXcell – a new cloud-based IT solution designed to facilitate more cost-effective care management.

Inspira Health Network, a New Jersey hospital, has already become the first provider to sign up to use the platform, which allows physicians to access evidence-based care plans integrated with underlying business process management technology.

CareXcell consolidates and normalises patient data from different sources, creating a single repository that makes identifying issues and risk factors far more efficient for the end user.

"The successful transition to value-based purchasing models requires new strategies and tools that shift population health management from reactive to proactive throughout the entire lifecycle of care," commented John Glaser, chief executive officer of health services for Siemens.

He described CareXcell as a "collaborative framework" that would help providers monitor patients and deliver care in a "timelier, more efficient manner" than with the fragmented IT systems used by many hospitals.
