Boston Scientific launches Ingevity in Europe
Boston Scientific has announced its Ingevity family of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) compatible pacing leads has received CE Mark approval and been launched on the European market.
The medical product features pacing leads of insulated wires that connect an implantable pacemaker to the heart for treatment of bradycardia, a condition in which the heart beats too slowly.
An Ingevity MRI lead was first used on March 3rd by Dr Daniel Gras at the Nouvelles Cliniques Nantaises in Nantes, France and he said the product "offers exceptional handling and placement within the heart".
Michael Onuscheck, senior vice-president and president of Boston Scientific Europe added: "The Ingevity MRI pacing leads platform represents a significant milestone in our bradycardia technology and CRM lead portfolio."
Data supporting the CE Mark approval demonstrated excellent performance including positive ratings on lead handling and manoeuvrability from 99.5 percent of implanters.
