Biotronik earns CE Mark approval for new Eluna pacemaker

Biotronik has been granted European CE Mark approval of its new Eluna pacemaker series, which offer a number of groundbreaking features.

The new generation of pacemakers includes single and dual-chamber as well as cardiac resynchronisation devices, and represent the first devices of their kind to with unique event-triggered IEGM transmissions.

With this technology, they can provide daily automatic data transmission without relying on patient interaction. By notifying physicians of clinical events quickly and reliably, treatment strategies can be adapted at an early stage to avoid negative outcomes.

The first implantations of the device are currently taking place worldwide.

Christoph Bohmer, international president of Biotronik, said: "Now that remote monitoring and MR conditional devices are highly recommended in the ESC guidelines, we are proud to say that our new pacemaker series reflects reliable and innovative care that follows these guidelines."

This comes after the company was granted CE Mark approval for its new Sentus ProMRI lead in February 2014.
