Novartis and Anne Geddes launch meningitis survivor eBook

28th April 2014

Novartis has announced the publication of a new eBook that features inspirational images of meningococcal disease survivors from across the globe.

The company has allied with world-renowned photographer Anne Geddes, the Confederation of Meningitis Organisations and various charity groups to launch the Protecting Our Tomorrows: Portraits of Meningococcal Disease eBook.

Featuring 15 survivors, the publication was made available for free via iBooks on April 24th 2014 to mark the sixth annual World Meningitis Day. It represents the culmination of a global project launched last year to raise awareness of this rare yet aggressive disease.

Andrin Oswald, division head at Novartis Vaccines, said: "Much more can and should be done to make sure every child at risk gets vaccinated. This is the mission of our company."

The firm is a leading developer of innovative vaccines for meningitis and remains the only company with licensed treatments for all five serogroups, including B.

As part of a recently-announced corporate restructuring, Novartis will soon transfer ownership of its vaccines division – including its meningitis assets – to GlaxoSmithKline.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801715516-ADNFCR
