BioMerieux maintains recent strong performance in Q1 2014
BioMerieux has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2014, during which it met its targets for the period.
The company's sales rose by 4.1 percent at constant exchange rates and scope of consolidation, reaching a three-month total of 371 million euros (305.04 million pounds). This was thanks to the stabilisation of its western European operations and continued growth in the US.
Its recent acquisition of BioFire helped to drive this improvement. The BioFire FilmArray system continued to expand at a fast pace, with 55 new instruments installed since the company’s acquisition.
The firm continues to expect a full-year growth performance of between three and five percent.
Alexandre Merieux, the company's new chief executive officer, said: "We are deploying a new operating organisation designed to effectively meet public health challenges and our customers' needs around the world."
Mr Merieux was appointed to the business leadership role earlier this month, succeeding Jean-Luc Belingard.
