Lab M launches new E. coli detection product Captivate O45
Lab M has announced the launch of Captivate O45, the latest addition to its Captivate range of immunomagnetic separation (IMS) products.
Designed for the isolation of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) strains associated with foodborne infection, the new solution utilises magnetic particles coated with specific antibodies to detect E. coli O45 in food, animal feed, beverages, pharmaceutical or environmental samples.
IMS is the only specific E. coli O45 isolation process in which a microbiological culture is obtained. Captivate O45 is able to separate the virus from background flora in a sample, so only organisms with O45 antigens are captured.
This means particle-organism complexes can then be easily inoculated to specific microbiological culture media.
The company said: "The Captivate range already covers most of the requirements in pending European regulation and with the addition of Captivate O45 it meets fully the needs of Big Six testing for meat products in the US."
This comes after the firm last month launched its Pinnacle media brand, a new line of pre-poured plates.
