Systagenix announces UK debut of Biosorb dressing
Systagenix has announced the UK and German launch of Biosorb, a new type of hydroactive dressing for wounds.
Containing superabsorbent fluid-retaining polymers, the Biosorb product actively manages exudate in chronic wounds, which is produced as a normal part of the healing process but can become excessive and unpredictable in long-term injuries.
In doing so, the dressing is able to reduce the risk of maceration, allowing for an extended wear time that leads to both direct and indirect cost savings for clinicians.
Superabsorbent dressings are one of the fastest growing categories in the advanced wound care market, with demand currently high for fluid management solutions in moderate to highly-exuding wounds.
Marc Blamire, global category director at Systagenix, said: "Designed to efficiently manage high volumes of exudate in a variety of wound types, Biosorb absorbs and retains large quantities of wound exudate, which can be detrimental to the healing process if left unmanaged."
Systagenix is now a part of the KCI healthcare group, having been acquired by the business towards the end of last year.
