AstraZeneca to showcase new oncology data at ASCO 2014

15th May 2014

AstraZeneca has confirmed it will be attending the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), which takes place in Chicago at the end of the month.

More than 40 scientific abstracts from AstraZeneca and its biologics arm MedImmune will be presented, showcasing the rapid progression of the organisation's investigational cancer pipeline.

Key highlights include positive findings from a phase I study of the MEDI4736 investigational anti-PD-L1 antibody and encouraging data from an early trial of the lung cancer therapy  AZD9291, as well as information on a new combination treatment for serous ovarian cancer.

Briggs Morrison, executive vice-president for global medicines development and chief medical officer at AstraZeneca, said: "We continue to deliver on our late-stage assets and drive our scientific leadership in oncology, as clearly demonstrated by the recent accelerated development of key assets."

This comes after the company also recently announced the commencement of a new phase III trial of MEDI4736, which will assess its performance among 702 non-small cell lung cancer patients.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801720445-ADNFCR
