Covidien granted CE Mark approval for Nellcor system
Covidien has announced the European launch of its new Nellcor Respiration Rate System, which combines a number of functions into a single finger sensor.
The offering has been granted CE Mark approval and includes the Nellcor Respiration Rate Version 2.0 software and Nellcor Bedside Respiratory Patient Monitoring System, in addition to the Adult Respiratory Sensor.
It can be used to monitor respiration rate, oxygen saturation and pulse rate, allowing clinicians to keep track of the critical vital signs that can act as early indicators of respiratory complications.
The system is highly accurate, easy to use and has been designed to enable earlier intervention in the case of respiratory compromise.
Matt Anderson, vice-president and general manager for patient monitoring at Covidien, said: "This single integrated sensor technology is a significant development in the patient monitoring industry. It supports Covidien's goal of being on the forefront of cutting-edge medical technology to enable clinicians to provide better patient care."
This comes after the firm last month reported data from a first-in-human clinical trial supporting the effectiveness of its Stellarex Balloon with EnduraCoat Technology.
