Source BioScience highlights strong performance in 2014 to date

Source BioScience has highlighted its recent strong business performance at its annual general meeting.

During the last 12 months, the firm has undergone a major business transformation. The healthcare and diagnostics unit continued to perform strongly, with a major component of the growth resulting from the sexually transmitted infection testing service launched during 2013.

Meanwhile, its life sciences business has maintained a leading position in the UK as a provider of DNA sequencing, recently renewing its position as a preferred provider to the Research Councils UK, while also expanding into the US and Europe.

The performance of the stability and biostorage division also met expectations, and the recent launch of the firm's US operations earlier this year represents a major milestone. As a result, Source BioScience expects to maintain the momentum it achieved in 2013.

Laurie Turnbull, chairman of Source BioScience, said: "The acquisitions made during 2013 have created significant opportunities, particularly for the second half of 2014. The group continues to trade in line with management's expectations for the full year."
