Dechra launches otitis externa support pack for dog owners

Dechra has announced the launch of a new support package to help encourage owner compliance when their dogs are being treated for ear disease.

Introduced as part of the company's Dermatology Partners in Practice programme, the Client Compliance Pack will help vet practices to ensure treatment plans are followed by dog owners when dealing with otitis externa.

The pack contains a guide to good ear care, a treatment diary, a consultation report and a leaflet on kind handling techniques, all of which can help to drive better outcomes for dogs receiving treatment.

Otitis externa is one of the most prevalent presenting conditions in dogs and must be treated with care, especially at a time when the responsible use of antimicrobials is in the spotlight.

Roger Brown, senior brand manager at Dechra Veterinary Products, said: "We know from our research and from talking to the vets and vet nurses that owner compliance can be a barrier to successful first-time management and resolution of otitis externa."

The company previously provided otitis support kits to vets and pet owners last year as part of its antimicrobial resistance awareness campaign Time to Change.
