Sandoz science head re-elected to EGA leadership role
Sandoz has announced the re-election of Dr Joerg Windisch as the European Generic Medicines Association's (EGA's) European biosimilars group.
Dr Windisch, the chief science officer of Sandoz, will work to increase stakeholder understanding of how biosimilars are developed and manufactured as part of his role with the EGA. In doing so, he aims to foster their wider usage.
Both Sandoz and the EGA recognise that communication and open dialogue with stakeholders are essential to increasing access to biotherapeutic treatments and ensuring the sustainability of the industry as a whole.
The company said: "Sandoz and its partners at the EGA are committed to improving stakeholder understanding that biosimilars are as safe and effective as their respective originator products."
Sandoz is a global leader in developing, manufacturing and commercialising biosimilars, with each of its three biosimilar products ranked first in its respective category globally.
Last year, it launched phase III trials of biosimilar versions of the autoimmune disease therapy Humira and the psoriasis drug Enbrel.
