Smith and Nephew achieves further growth in Q2 2014

1st August 2014

Smith and Nephew has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2014, during which it generated a revenue total of $1.15 billion (683.37 million pounds).

This represented a year-on-year increase of three percent on underlying terms or seven percent on a reported basis. Meanwhile, trading profit was $255 million, up by a reported ten percent.

Its sports medicine joint repair, trauma and extremities and orthopaedic reconstruction businesses led the strong quarterly performance, with growth rates significantly up on the previous three-month period.

Meanwhile, the firm's emerging and international markets revenue growth remained strong, while another major milestone was reached with the completion of the acquisition of ArthroCare.

Olivier Bohuon, chief executive officer of Smith and Nephew, said: "With half of our revenues now coming from higher growth markets and a more focused structure, we are well placed to take advantage of the many further opportunities we see."

This comes after the company expanded its portfolio with the launch of the Hat-Trick Lesser Toe Repair System earlier this week.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801739498-ADNFCR
