BD’s third-quarter results show further growth
BD has achieved a revenue total of $2.16 billion (1.28 billion pounds) for the third quarter of its 2014 business year, which ended on June 30th.
This represented a 5.1 percent year-on-year improvement, with its medical, diagnostics and biosciences division all seeing enhanced performances. Its international operations continued to grow faster than its US business, reflecting strong demand from emerging markets.
Encouraging sales of medical surgical systems, preanalytical systems and solid instrument placements all contributed to the good performance.
As such, BD has been able to confirm its previously announced currency-neutral revenue growth guidance range of 4.5 to 5.0 percent for the full year.
Vincent Forlenza, chairman, chief executive officer and president of BD, said: "We are pleased with our solid third-quarter results, with each of our segments contributing to growth. Our consistent performance demonstrates that our strategy remains sound in this dynamic healthcare environment."
The company has also been performing well in terms of sustainability in recent months, completing 80 percent of the progress towards its 2015 sustainability targets by the end of 2013.
