Teva UK launches generic treatment for heart attack patients

Teva UK has announced the launch of its new generic eplerenone tablets in two different strength options.

The new over-the-counter medicine is indicated for the treatment of patients who have suffered a heart attack and is based on the branded product Inspra, which is developed and marketed by Pfizer.

It is designed to help those recovering from heart failure to manage their symptoms and stabilise their condition, making it easier for patients to carry on with their normal lives.

Teva will be selling the drug in 25 mg and 50 mg strengths, with each pack containing 28 tablets.

Kim Innes, commercial director of Teva UK, said: "We are pleased to be able to add eplerenone tablets to our portfolio. The launch of this medicine will enable Teva to make an impact on patients' lives."

This comes after the firm last month announced the completion of its takeover of Labrys, a move that will strengthen its portfolio of migraine therapies.
