Novartis to present new drug data at ERS 2014

Novartis has announced that it will be sharing new data from its respiratory portfolio at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) congress in Munich next week.

The company will attend the event from September 6th to 10th in order to present 44 abstracts on various therapies – more than any other firm at the congress.

Positive new results from the phase III Lantern study will show how its Ultibro Breezhaler therapy can deliver benefits for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), while data from the Quantify study will showcase the drug's strong performance in improving lung function and shortness of breath in the same patient group.

Meanwhile, results from the Glisten trial will add to the body of clinical evidence supporting another COPD therapy, Seebri Breezhaler.

Vasant Narasimhan, global head of development at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, said: "We hear from patients how their lives have improved because of our respiratory medicines, and this motivates us to continue to advance respiratory treatments in our portfolio."

The company is currently attending the European Society of Cardiology annual congress, taking place in Barcelona this week until September 3rd.
