Align Technology and Zimmer agree product cross-compatibility

Align Technology has agreed a deal with Zimmer that will introduce a shared digital workflow for their respective technologies.

From September 2014 onwards, Align's iTero Intraoral Scanner will support connectivity with Zimmer Zfx custom abutments for implants, offering clinicians an expanded menu of digital services for greater precision and enhanced efficiency.

The aim of this partnership is to increase efficiency, streamline processes and help deliver better clinical outcomes for patients, while also making it easier for dentists to create custom CAD/CAM prosthetics.

Timothy Mack, Align Technology's vice-president for business development, said: "We are pleased to be collaborating with Zimmer Dental to offer clinicians expanded workflow options within digital dentistry and to enhance custom abutment solutions for their patients."

Align has enjoyed considerable financial success in the year to date, achieving record revenues and year-on-year growth of 17.5 percent during the second quarter of 2014.

For the current quarter, the company expects to achieve a further revenue increase of between 13.2 percent and 15.6 percent.
