Roche tops healthcare sector in Dow Jones sustainability report

Roche has been recognised as the group leader in sustainability within the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and life sciences industry.

The company topped its category in the new Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, as well as placing among the top ten percent of organisations across all surveyed industries, following an in-depth analysis of economic, social and environmental performance.

Roche received the highest scores in the industry in several areas, including how it handles customer relationships, supply chain management, and the ways in which it addresses healthcare burdens through the value of its products and services.

It also performed strongly on nearly every aspect of employee engagement, including developing talent, respecting human rights, and attracting and retaining good workers.

Severin Schwan, chief executive officer of Roche, said: "Since the founding of Roche almost 120 years ago, sustainable long-term thinking has guided our business practices. We remain committed to lasting innovation as our greatest contribution to society and a sustainable future."

This comes at a time of significant growth for Roche, which agreed deals to acquire InterMune and Santaris Pharma last month.
