BMI Healthcare purchases advanced CT scanner for Cheadle hospital

16th September 2014

BMI Healthcare has announced the purchase of a state-of-the-art 320-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner for the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle.

The site has become the first hospital in Greater Manchester – and the only private healthcare facility in the UK – to invest in the advanced Toshiba Aquilion One Next Generation CT Scanner, which will be available for use on patients this month.

It is the most sophisticated CT scanner in use in the UK, providing extremely high-quality imaging at the lowest radiation currently possible. It offers an enhanced diagnostic service to patients across specialities such as cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics and paediatrics.

Advantages of the device include the ability to complete a scan in seconds and capture the whole head in a single rotation. Moreover, the scanner's width will also help reduce claustrophobia and anxiety for patients.

Philip Oehley, executive director at the Alexandra Hospital, said: "The scanner will put us at the forefront of imaging and diagnostics services, enabling us to provide our patients with the most advanced clinical technology available."

The firm operates 66 hospitals and treatment centres across the country, with a 97 percent patient satisfaction rating of very good or excellent for its services.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801748667-ADNFCR
