Colgate studies show benefits of toothpaste containing arginine

22nd September 2014

Colgate has highlighted results from a pair of two-year clinical studies that show the advantages offered by toothpaste formulated using 1.5 percent arginine.

According to data from the trials, which involved more than 12,000 people, there are clear benefits to the use of toothpaste that contains both the insoluble calcium compound and fluoride, in terms of superior caries prevention.

It has been shown that using a toothpaste containing 1.5 percent arginine and 1,450 ppm of fluoride resulted in up to 20 percent fewer new cavities forming in two years, when compared to the use of a regular fluoride toothpaste.

This underlines the effectiveness of products such as Colgate's recently-launched Maximum Cavity Protection plus Sugar Acid Neutraliser toothpaste brand, which contains arginine and is specifically designed to combat cavities.

It also comes during Oral Health Month 2014, a four-week long campaign supported by Colgate and the British Dental Association, which is aimed at promoting better dental care among people across the UK.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801749960-ADNFCR
