AbbVie to present cancer drug data at ESMO 2014
AbbVie has announced that it will be sharing data from several clinical studies evaluating new cancer drugs at the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) annual congress in Madrid.
Running from September 26th to 30th, the conference will see AbbVie present results from a phase II study evaluating the safety and efficacy of its drug veliparib as part of a combination treatment for non-small cell lung cancer.
Meanwhile, data from a phase I trial will demonstrate the performance of ABT-414, an anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody drug conjugate, in patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme, the most common and aggressive form of malignant primary brain tumour.
Also set to be featured is ABT-767, a therapy for high-grade serous ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer.
Dr Gary Gordon, vice-president for oncology clinical development at AbbVie, said: "We have implemented innovative approaches to developing compounds that inhibit cellular reproduction and induce programmed cell death, which could potentially provide additional options for treating patients across many types of cancer."
Earlier this month, the company announced a new collaboration with Infinity Pharmaceuticals, centring on the development of the investigational cancer therapy duvelisib, which has shown potential efficacy in the treatment of a broad range of blood cancers.
