Tonic Life appoints new global chief executive officer

Tonic Life Communications has announced the appointment of the experienced healthcare comms professional Mary Smiddy as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

Ms Smiddy will assume this leadership role at the Huntsworth Health-owned agency in November 2014, working out of the new Huntsworth Health offices in St James' Park.

Boasting considerable experience of working in key regions such as the Middle East and Asia, her previous employers include such major comms agencies as Porter Novelli, Weber Shandwick and Edelman.

At the same time Tamsin Tierney has been promoted to the role of managing director of Tonic Life Communications in Europe.

This comes after the firm appointed Tracey Carey as its new head of consumer health and Tim Russell as its digital director earlier this year.
