Qiagen launches new features for bioinformatics solutions

Qiagen has announced the introduction of expanded functionality for its range of bioinformatics workflow solutions.

New capabilities for the Ingenuity Variant Analysis and CLC Cancer Research Workbench solutions were unveiled at the American Society of Human Genetics annual meeting, which recently concluded in San Diego.

The Ingenuity Variant Analysis product will add fully integrated Biobase HGMD Professional capabilities, making it easier than ever to deliver quick, detailed reports on inherited mutations.

Meanwhile, the CLC Cancer Research Workbench will gain copy number detection options, plus a FastQ-to-insight solution through integration with Ingenuity Variant Analysis to help users uncover meaningful insights in cancer research.

Dr Laura Furmanski, senior vice-president of Qiagen and head of the firm's bioinformatics business, said: "We are increasing Qiagen's leadership in bioinformatics by further integrating and expanding our portfolio of universal solutions to enable disease-focused researchers to move rapidly from raw data to valuable insights."

This comes after the firm was named earlier this month as one of the key technology collaborators on a new project to sequence and interpret 100,000 whole genomes from NHS patients.
