Norgine commences new trials of bowel-cleansing agent
Norgine has announced the commencement of its European phase III trials of NER1006, a novel low-volume bowel preparation agent.
The first patients have been enrolled for the two studies, MORA and DAYB, which will evaluate the bowel-cleansing efficacy of the new product. They come as part of a wider phase III trial programme that will involve 1,294 patients in total.
MORA will compare the compound to an established alternative, using a two-day split-dosing regimen and a one-day morning split-dosing regimen in adults, while DAYB will evaluate the efficacy of NER1006 versus another therapy using a day-before-only dosing regimen.
This new low-volume solution has been developed not only to support improved patient acceptability and compliance, but also enhance the effectiveness of colonoscopy procedures in terms of detecting colon cancer and bowel surveillance.
Donna McVey, chief development officer at Norgine, said: "These pivotal trials complement the data already available for this novel preparation, and further strengthen our bowel cleansing portfolio."
The company offers a number of solutions in this field, including the proven colon cleansing agent Moviprep.
