Kitcatt Nohr and Beat campaign to raise awareness of eating disorders in men
Kitcatt Nohr is helping charity group Beat launch a campaign to increase understanding of the recent rise in eating disorders among men in the UK.
Entitled #beatthesilence, the campaign features sufferers talking about their personal battle with these conditions and how they felt when they sought help. It also highlights high-profile men who have experienced eating disorders, including Uri Geller and John Stapleton.
The work is being supported by a social media campaign and will take advantage of BrandLIVE, the DigitasLBi service which helps brands communicate to audiences in real time, reports The Drum.
It is hoped the project will reach the three-quarters of male sufferers who remain silent about their eating problems. The second phase of the campaign, aimed at female sufferers, will be rolled out early next year.
Ben Golik, executive creative director at Kitcatt Nohr, said: "We hope hearing the courageous stories of the men featured in our campaign will help more men to come forward and talk about their problem."
Based in London, the agency has also previously worked with charities such as WaterAid, Samaritans and Macmillan Cancer Support.
