Philips launches new DoseWise Portal software solution

Philips has introduced a new radiation dose management software solution during the recent annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

The DoseWise Portal can be used to proactively record, analyse and monitor imaging radiation dosages for patients and clinicians across multiple diagnostic settings, thus helping to mitigate exposure risk.

This facilitates compliance with increased dose monitoring standards, working in tandem with existing DoseWise solutions such as ClarityIQ IMR and DoseAware.

When performing imaging procedures, it is vital to deliver the right dose for each person. Higher doses can sometime create a risk of harm, but a certain level will often be needed to reach a definitive diagnosis in the shortest time and at the lowest cost.

Gene Saragnese, executive vice-president and chief executive officer of Philips Imaging Systems, said: "Philips DoseWise Solutions return a measure of control to patient care, arming clinicians and informing patients with the tools training and insights they need in order to ask the right questions regarding radiation dose."

Earlier this year, the company announced plans to restructure its business by splitting into two organisations, with its lighting division set to become a separate business. This will help to increase its focus on healthcare innovations.
