Henry Schein names new member of board of directors

Henry Schein has announced the appointment of esteemed academic Dr Lawrence Bacow as the newest member of its board of directors, expanding its size to 15 members.

The former Tufts University president, MIT professor and Harvard University scholar can offer in-depth expertise on the needs of dental, animal health and medical professionals to the company.

He has overseen the training of every customer group the company serves, meaning he possesses broad-based management experience in relevant fields. Currently, he serves as leader-in-residence at the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "As a lawyer and economist whose research focuses on environmental policy, Dr. Bacow's passion for the environment complements Henry Schein's long-standing commitment to global corporate responsibility."

During the third quarter of 2014, the company experienced double-digit growth, gaining market share across all four of its business groups. This helped it to achieve a new quarterly record performance.
