UCB presents new epilepsy drug data at AES 2014

5th December 2014

UCB has announced its plans to showcase a range of new clinical findings at the American Epilepsy Society (AES) annual meeting, which commences today (December 5th 2014).

Running until December 9th in Seattle, the conference will feature 24 UCB-sponsored presentations, including 12 scientific posters on the established therapy Vimpat. New post-hoc analyses will examine the conversion to lacosamide monotherapy study published earlier this year.

In addition, an accepted late-breaking abstract will share primary data from a phase III trial evaluating the investigational medicine brivaracetam as adjunctive treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults with epilepsy.

UCB has a strong presence in the epilepsy market, with more than 20 years of experience in researching and developing antiepileptic drugs.

Professor Dr Iris Loew Friedrich, chief medical officer and executive vice-president at UCB, said: "Together with our partners, we are very pleased to share a number of abstracts reporting data from surveys and studies offering new insights on epilepsy care."

During the first nine months of 2014, the company saw Vimpat sales rise by 14 percent year over year. It is one of UCB's most strategically important therapies.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801764462-ADNFCR
