Acelity names new business and innovation head
Acelity has announced the appointment of Gaurav Agarwal as group president for businesses and innovation within its new-look leadership team.
The newly-created role will see Mr Agarwal take charge of the strategic direction for all of Acelity's businesses, including its advanced wound therapeutics and regenerative medicine operations.
He most recently served as president for orthopaedic reconstruction for the advanced surgical devices division at Smith and Nephew, where he was responsible for leading global strategic marketing and product development for joint reconstruction.
At Acelity, he will assume commercial responsibility for the company's healing solutions and regenerative and reconstructive tissue matrices portfolio, while driving innovation, managing multiple development platforms and expanding the product range.
Joe Woody, president and chief executive officer at Acelity, said: "Gaurav has valuable insight into global markets for medical devices and a demonstrated track record of driving commercial performance throughout the world."
Acelity was created in September 2014 after Centaur Guernsey chose to merge its subsidiary KCI with sister companies LifeCell and Systagenix. The firm appointed Thomas Casey as its new executive vice-president and chief financial officer last month.
