Sirona marks tenth anniversary of SICAT’s foundation
Sirona has celebrated the tenth birthday of SICAT, the 3D imaging and treatment planning software joint venture it established in 2004.
Founded in partnership with the Centre for Advanced European Studies and Research and the former Siemens engineers Jochen Kusch and Dr Joachim Hey, the company provides innovative software solutions for oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Key milestones in its development include the 2007 launch of Galileos, its first 3D X-ray unit, and the accompanying Galaxis 3D software, as well as the SICAT CLASSICGUIDE surgical guides, all of which are among the most widely-used products in their category.
Its latest offering, SICAT Function, helps dental practitioners and orthodontists to diagnose and treat craniomandibular dysfunction, a widespread disease pattern.
The founders said: "We feel that our company, which started in 2004 with 12 employees and now has 100, is in a good position for this."
Sirona is the world's largest manufacturer of dental technology, with more than 3,300 staff members at 28 locations worldwide.
