Reckitt Benckiser completes demerger of Indivior pharmaceuticals business
Reckitt Benckiser has announced the completion of its demerger of its speciality pharmaceuticals business, which will now operate as a standalone company called Indivior.
Shares in the separated company are now trading on the London Stock Exchange, a move that will allow both organisations to improve their focus on their core market interests and competencies.
Based in the UK, Indivior will be led by chief executive officer Shaun Thaxter. Its key assets include a profitable opioid addiction business and a strong pipeline with numerous potentially groundbreaking treatments for this chronic disease.
Each company will now focus on developing their respective businesses into leaders in their specific sectors, with Indivior expected to operate more effectively and logically as a standalone business than as a subsidiary.
Reckitt Benckiser chief executive Rakesh Kapoor said he believes that both businesses "will benefit from being able to focus on their core competencies", while adding that Reckitt Benckiser "will continue to pursue its strategy of being a global leader in the health, hygiene and home categories".
