Servier ranked as Europe’s eighth largest pharmaceuticals investor

31st December 2014

Servier has been recognised as one of the top ten European investors in the pharmaceutical sector by a recently-published European Commission report.

The 2014 edition of the EU Industrial Research and Development Investment Scoreboard revealed that Servier is the eighth largest European investor in the pharmaceutical sector, with 895 million euros (698.1 million pounds) spent.

This is equivalent to 21.4 percent of the group's consolidated turnover in innovative medicines and generic drugs. From a broader perspective, Servier was listed as the eighth biggest French investor in research and development, and the 38th largest European investor overall.

Servier annually invests more than 25 percent of its innovative medicines turnover into the development of further therapeutic innovations in cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological, psychiatric, bone and joint diseases, as well as cancer.

The company said: "This ranking positions Servier as a major investor in research and development at the European and world levels, and as a key actor of innovation in the pharmaceutical sector."

Earlier this month, the firm announced a new partnership with GeNeuro that will see the two companies developing an innovative medicine addressing a causal factor of multiple sclerosis.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801768133-ADNFCR
