Britons ‘increasingly looking for oral health information’
More people in the UK and beyond are seeking out online sources in order to find out more about oral health and wellbeing issues, according to the British Dental Health Foundation.
A new report from the charity has revealed that the number of visitors to its website have increased by a substantial 155 per cent in the last year alone, meaning more than 2.5 million people are now consulting the resource.
This comes after the site was relaunched around 12 months ago, with the growing coverage of oral health issues in national media also playing a significant part in people wanting to know more about oral health.
The trends shed light on the reasoning behind on the charity's efforts to translate its website into a broader range of languages, with its entire oral health information database to be available in Arabic, Russian, German, Hindi, Spanish, Chinese, French, Polish and Portuguese.
Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, said: "By translating the information on our website, we will not only be able to open the door for those in the UK whose first language may not be English, but to millions more around the world."
The availability of high-quality oral advice online is becoming more important than ever, particularly given recent reports suggesting that many people are currently reluctant to visit their dentist due to concerns over costs.
