Qiagen announces takeover of Enzymatics’ enzyme solutions unit
Qiagen has agreed to purchase the enzyme solutions business of Enzymatics, a leading provider of enzymes for use in next-generation sequencing applications.
These enzymes are key ingredients across the workflows of all commercially available sequencing solutions, with Enzymatics products used in 80 percent of all global next-generation sequencing reactions.
This portfolio will be commercialised globally through Qiagen's direct, indirect and original equipment manufacturing channels. The deal sees Qiagen take control of all assets relating to the business, including research and development, manufacturing, formulation and analytical capabilities.
Peer Schatz, chief executive officer of Qiagen, said: "We are committed to supporting the global sequencing community through continued access to the solutions and products from Enzymatics' world-class capabilities."
Last week, the company announced that it was able to exceed its goal for 250 new placements of its QIAsymphony modular automation solution in 2014, bringing the total number of cumulative placements to more than 1,250.
