Pfizer names new UK head of innovative pharmaceuticals
Pfizer has announced the appointment of Erik Nordkamp as managing director and head of its global innovative pharmaceutical business in the UK.
Mr Nordkamp has been with the company since 2010 and has led the global innovative pharmaceutical business in Greece, Cyprus and Malta for the past year. Prior to this, he worked in the UK as head of strategy for primary care in Europe and Canada.
He has been appointed as the successor to Jonathan Emms, who has been named global marketing lead for Pfizer's global established pharmaceutical business.
In his new role, Mr Nordkamp will liaise with representatives from the government and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence on measures to improve access to innovative medicines for UK patients.
He said: "I look forward to continuing conversations with the government, the NHS and NICE to ensure the value of our industry is recognised, and health is seen as a longer-term investment rather than a short-term cost."
Earlier this month, the company expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of Hospira, the world's leading provider of injectable drugs and infusion technologies.
